Let’s be honest: from the very first time we caught sight of it – covered in leaves – in the glass box in the Aprilia pavilion at EICMA 2019, we could already imagine the “braaap” of the engine and the rise of endless clusters of golden sand into the air. The Tuareg 660 then came roaring onto our roads and more than confirmed all the grit that could already be glimpsed from the first spy shots. Now it’s finally time for the Tuareg name to shine again at the dirtiest, sandiest competitions around. The Aprilia Racing “Back to Africa” project is just that: an ambitious plan which in about a year will take the Tuareg 660 to the pinnacle of off-road racing. Those great rally-raids, the mere mention of which makes the pulse of off-road enthusiasts rise and immediately brings to mind the participation of the Tuareg 600 Wind in the Dakar races between the end of the 1980s and the start of the 1990s!…
